Goole 1 Vs 1 Radcliffe Match Report
The Boro extended their unbeaten run in the league to 7 matches after drawing with bottom side Goole.
The game got off to the perfect start for the hosts, after only 15 Seconds following a defensive clearance Carl Stewart chested the ball down and volleyed it onto the roof of the net from 25 yards out, Haslam in goal had no chance to save it was a shock start and Boro had to chase the game from the start.
After the game being held up in midfield and both sides were trying to open up, boro found the key and created some opportunities, Hooper’s shot went central and provided a simple save for the goalkeeper and moments after a glancing Header went Just wide of the post.
Half Time: Goole 1-0 Radcliffe
Presumably there must have been words said at half time, a different side came out for the second half. A fired up Boro team almost did go two down straight after the break Morton was allowed to get one on one with Haslam who produced a great Save.
But then the majority of the second half was Radcliffe pressure and opportunities to score.
Sherlock had a magnificent chance to score a fantastic weighted ball from Jacobs found him in the perfect place in on goal but with too much pressure he wasn’t allowed to finish and ball went out for a corner.
But from the resulting corner after being cleared the ball found James Hooper on the edge of the box and as cool as you like placed the ball into the bottom corner, a lovely goal Radcliffe equalised and looked well on course for a second.
Since the goal again more and more pressure and breaking though but couldn’t find the opportunities to finalise a second winning goal.
In the last 5 Mins Goole got back into the game, Morton had a superb opportunity to grab 3 points for Goole missing his one on one chance with Haslam who made another great Save again to Deny.
In the final minutes of the game, Kurt Sherlock was dismissed having being stamped on. He retaliated which sparked off a mele of players coming in and where there should have been at least a red card for either team and few bookings either way, after much debate with his assistants made the correct decision in sending Sherlock off, Booked Jacobs for his part and then nothing else to either team much to the surprise of everyone in the Stadium after missing the initial stamp which caused it.
Full Time: Goole 1-1 Radcliffe
After a bad tempered end the game finished 1-1. Radcliffe didn’t play as well as they are capable of and will put in much better performances and get less out of it through the season. But battled for a point and another day may have got all three.
But 7 games unbeaten in the league and still looking up rather than down could still prove to be a good point after all 42 games have been played in April.
Next Up it’s Atherton LR in the Lancashire Cup on Tuesday Night a welcome break from League Action and then Back to the league again against Brighouse at home the following Saturday.
Where Boro could make it 8 games without defeat in the league.
